Description:A Cashier at Carlie C’s IGA realizes that providing prompt and friendly customer service is priority #1.

Being courteous and cooperative with both customer and co-worker is a critical aspect of maximizing sales and building business for years to come.

Always remember, Carlie C's will authorize the bank to deposit your paycheck to you, but it is the customer who provides the funds in which we are paid. Therefore, we have plenty of reason to go out of our way to ensure that our customers are treated right.
Duties:-Provide a smile and a friendly greeting to customers entering the store.
-Effectively operate all functions of the cash register, including accurately counting cash,
-Effectively process a variety of different types of payment from the customer, including: Cash, Checks, Credit/Debit Cards, Gift Certificates, Coupons, WIC Vouchers, and Food Benefit Cards.
-Scan all scan-able merchandise presented by the customer while working together with the Bagger to make sure all items are accounted for.
-Verify valid customer identification at the prompting of the register.
-Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout your shift.
-For items that do not scan, verify the price and enter it manually using the correct dept. key.
-For items that return an error message of “NOT ON FILE”, document UPC on a Not On File form, verify price, and enter manually using the correct dept. key.
-Efficiently bag items to maximize the number of items per bag.
-Maintain a clean and neat register, lane, and front-end customer area.
-Lift up to 15 pounds.
-Help other cashiers bag groceries or perform other manager objectives when you do not have any customers.

Qualifications:Applicants of this position must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants should be friendly, neat, clean, and able to present a professional attitude and appearance for the customer. Ideal applicants will enjoy serving the general public and be capable of communicating in a positive, effective way that results in customer satisfaction. Applicants should be capable of counting and handling money accurately in a fast-paced environment. Applicant should be prepared to work up to 40 hours on a weekly basis.
